Superhot Rock Energy

Superhot rock energy is an emerging form of geothermal power with the potential to provide 24/7, emissions-free energy at a scale comparable to fossil fuels—transforming the grid and accelerating a clean energy future. To shed light on this revolutionary energy source, our client tasked us with designing a logo and website that serve as a resource hub to educate both the general public and policymakers on what it is and how it works.

Brand Guidelines

In the original logo presentation, we highlighted the brand’s versatility by showcasing the logo across multiple color formats, paired with typography, custom iconography, and applied examples such as collateral and swag mockups. Below are slides from the original presentation:

Because a seamless transition into digital was a priority, I included website mockups within the logo exploration phase—showcasing how button styles, color application, iconography, and typography would translate across the brand.

Other design explorations

Before finalizing the logo, we presented multiple concepts—each with a distinct inspiration—to gather client feedback and gauge preferences. While we recommended a preferred direction, this process helped us refine the final logo and visual system.

Exploration A

The design incorporated topographic lines—referencing both natural landscapes and the fragmentation of rock—while the logomark itself featured an arrow pointing into the earth to symbolize energy sourcing and upward to reflect its use. A bold, electric palette reinforced a sense of urgency and innovation.

Exploration B

By placing typography beneath abstracted landscape lines, this concept visualized the idea of hidden energy below ground. Its simplicity made it approachable, while the concept remained powerful.
